Tax Preparer

Essential Functions:

  • As a tax preparer, gather and analyze tax-related documentation for various types of tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Efficiently manage time and complexity for each return, applying tax laws to minimize clients’ tax liability. Simplify complex tax concepts for clients and provide tax planning tips.
  • Assist clients with payment arrangements and tax refund deposits.
  • Utilize tax software (Lacerte), verify return accuracy, and maintain a positive demeanor.
  • Stay updated on tax law changes, comply with regulations, and collaborate with the team to enhance tax preparation processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related field.
  • 5+ years tax return prep experience.
  • Valid EA or CPA certification.
  • Lacerte proficiency.
  • Knowledge of tax laws.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Effective communication, and eligibility to work in the US with ongoing education compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Knowledge of GAAP in tax prep.
  • Experience with Form 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Advanced tax software proficiency.
  • Familiarity with specialized tax areas, and active involvement in tax-related professional organizations for continuous learning and development.

Physical Requirements:

  • The job may require extended sitting, computer/phone use with hand/wrist motion, occasional standing/walking, and verbal communication.
  • Infrequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting may be needed. Lifting up to 25 lbs may be required.
